What is an Enduring
Power of Attorney?
It is a document that gives
power to a person of your choice to deal with your affairs
should you become incapable of managing your own affairs
for any reason e.g. Motor accident, stroke etc.
Who should make an Enduring Power
of Attorney?
Anyone who has assets or financial affairs
that needs to be managed.
Why make an Enduring Power of Attorney?
Having an enduring power of attorney in place, in the case
of incapacity, will avoid the need for person’s assets
to have to go through the Court of Protection which can be
costly and slow. A Power of Attorney allows the family to
continue to manage the person’s financial affairs.
When Should I make a Power of Attorney?
The simple answer is now the document may be restricted
so that it will only become effective if incapacity arises.
